Human Rights Film European Premiere in Brussels

Racism, ethnic discrimination and slavery are the subject of the award winning full-length human rights documentary, Faces of Change, having its European premiere on February 22nd at the Church of Scientology International European Human Rights Office in Brussels. The event is co-organized by the European Roma Information Office in conjunction with the European Foundation for Human Rights and Tolerance.

Faces of Change was produced and directed by Haitian filmmaker Michele Stephenson. The film has already won the Humanitarian Award at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. Its premiere is part of a human rights awareness campaign being carried out by the Church of Scientology International in coordination with other concerned groups and individuals.

The film covers different cases of racial discrimination in five widely divergent cultures, including the Dalit (untouchables) of India, economic discrimination against people of color in the USA, slavery in Mauritius and black and Indian racism in Brazil.

The European example features the Director of the European Roma Information Office, Mr. Ivan Ivanov, who highlights the problems and difficulties faced by the Roma community. Following the premiere, Mr. Ivanov will give a short talk and answer questions about the film and the issues it covers.

Through powerful imagery, music and interwoven stories concerning each of these discrimination issues, the five examples give us an insight into different forms of racial discrimination that are manifest in different cultures and geographical locations.
