February 15, 2006
A five-day interactive, online seminar titled "The challenge of Human Rights education in our age," will begin on 27th of February, 2006. Chaired by the Director of the Church of Scientology International European Office for Public Affairs and Human Rights, Fabio Amicarelli, the conference is being organized by the Spanish non-profit, public benefit organization, Documentation Sciences Foundation, and will use conferencing technology developed by Interwise ECP Connect, US-based provider of conferencing solutions, to broadcast the conference across the web.
The conference, which will last 5 days, will concentrate on Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states: "Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control." and "Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and assistance. All children, whether born in or out of wedlock, shall enjoy the same social protection."
Concurrently, Martin Weightman, the Human Rights Director of the European Human Rights Office, will chair a seminar titled "How Important are Human Rights?"
Both seminars will feature audiovisual presentations that show the effectiveness of modern communication media in human rights education.
Mr. Jose Raul Vaquero, President of Documentation Sciences Foundation said, "I am especially proud to be part of the team that is developing this ground-breaking technology for human rights purposes. The possibilities to help people through the internet are extensive and I think that through holding this seminar, along with others we plan to do, we will be laying a path for others to follow."
